Christie Williams
NARM Phase II Student Midwife
Christie is a student midwife, registered nurse, wife of 27 years, mother of four, and follower of Jesus whose journey into midwifery has been shaped by both her professional experience and her own transformation through motherhood.
After graduating from Samford University’s nursing program in 2000, Christie began her career in emergency and trauma nursing. She went on to work in emergency departments across the country, gaining years of experience caring for people during some of their most vulnerable and unpredictable moments.
But it was becoming a mother that changed the direction of her life.
While her children were little, Christie stepped into a different kind of healthcare role—teaching health and wellness to families. That work gave her the opportunity to educate and support families not only in her own community, but around the world. It deepened her belief that when families are given meaningful education and practical tools, they can become active, confident participants in their own health.
At the same time, motherhood was reshaping the way Christie thought about pregnancy and birth. While preparing for the birth of her first child, she began learning about nutrition, physiologic birth, informed decision-making, and the impact our everyday choices can have on pregnancy and family health. She experienced firsthand how education could replace fear with confidence and how powerful it could be to enter birth feeling informed, supported, and connected to her own body.
That experience eventually led Christie into birth work as a doula and, now, into midwifery.
At the heart of Christie’s philosophy is a deep trust in the way women were created. She believes the body is beautifully designed to grow and birth babies and that families deserve care that honors that design while also providing thoughtful education, skilled support, and space to make informed decisions.
For Christie, birth is about more than the arrival of a baby. It is the birth of a mother, a father, siblings, and an entirely new version of a family. She believes birth can hold joy, wonder, strength, and purpose, even when the journey doesn’t unfold exactly as expected.
As she continues her training in midwifery, Christie hopes to walk alongside families in a way that helps them feel informed rather than fearful, supported rather than directed, and confident in making the choices that are right for their family.
